The Tui room has recently introduced Forest Walks into our programme planning. Attached is a reading outlining principles for effectively engaging children with nature. The Forest Walks have began with the transition to school group and we have chosen Central Park as our location to explore as it is the location of Moturoa Stream, the Awa we identify with. We plan to engage all children with learning experiences in nature taking into consideration individual learning needs and stages of development. The main purpose of their trip to New Zealand was to visit some Early Childhood Education services in New Zealand to observe how teachers’ implement our world leading early childhood bi-cultural curriculum Te Whāriki for children’s learning. Read more
