The Kiwi Group | 6 months–2 years
The Kiwi Room is a calm, nurturing space for our youngest Tamariki from 6 months to two years. What sets us apart is our exceptionally low teacher-to-child ratios, allowing every child to be known, supported, and cared for with genuine attention. With fewer children per educator, we have the time to notice the small things — the milestones, the cues, the moments that matter.
At Polyhigh, quality care starts with connection — and our low ratios make that possible.
Learning Programme
Guided by Te Whāriki: He Whāriki Mātauranga mō ngā Mokopuna o Aotearoa, New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum and inspired by the RIE philosophy, our programme supports each child to grow, explore, and thrive at their own pace. Our teachers build warm, responsive relationships that foster independence, curiosity, and confidence in a peaceful, predictable environment.
Daily Routine
We value your partnership and warmly encourage you to share in your child’s learning journey with us, as we see you as your child’s first and most important teacher.
When your child first joins the Kiwi Room, we aim to follow their home routines as closely as possible. This helps them transition smoothly into the new environment and fosters a strong sense of belonging. Once your child feels settled and comfortable here, we begin to gently blend their home routines with the ones we have established in the Kiwi Room.
Each child has a primary caregiver, providing a familiar and trusted connection throughout the day. This supports your child’s settling-in period by creating a secure and familiar base—especially important when parents return to work or leave for the day. Smaller group sizes mean calmer transitions, unhurried play, and meaningful learning moments woven into everyday routines.
Throughout their time in the Kiwi Room, your child is given the time and space to explore, discover, and grow at their own pace, supporting their emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. Through everyday routines and meaningful experiences, we nurture independence and encourage each child to learn alongside others in a caring and supportive environment.
When it’s time for your child to transition to the Tuatara Room, we will walk alongside them to ensure a smooth and positive continuation of their learning and growth.
