Nau mai ki ngaa Maatua! – Welcome to our parents

Our centre, is all about Whānau, tamariki, Kaiako and the community. As our centre grows, so will our activities. Parents who join will be welcomed with the opporunity to join the committee, and or take part in current and new initiatives.

Activities our Whānau can enjoy:

  • Annual Matariki Breakfast. Started in Year 1 of Matariki, driven by one of the Committee Members. The Matariki breakfast is a time of coming together as a centre, where we are nourished with karakia, kai, waiata, manaakitanga, aroha and Whakawhanaungatanga.
  • Whānau Working Bee. At PolyHigh, we rely on the small things to help keep the centre going. Our Whānau working Bee, is a great time to come together and meet new and current parents while doing a service for the Centre. From hammering down nails, painting to sanding down old desk. It’s a fun way to kōrero and share stories.
  • Fundraiser initiatives – 2025, we hosted a Whānau Garage Sale where Whānau got to bring in their old tamariki clothing, toys, accessories etc to sell. This was an incredible time to bring community, Whānau, Tamariki and Kaiako together. It also allowed us to show case our Centre while also providing access to amazing kakahu for growing tamariki to buy.
    • Other ideas – Whānau baking sale, Christmas Tea towel – 2025, Dump your trash – Skip Hire. just to name a few.
  • Kapahaka Showcasing. PolyHigh has started the kapahaka waka and embracing our tamariki voices in waiata, and embracing the learnings that Kapahaka brings; Pride, Mana, courage and confidence. This year we celebrated PolyHigh Tui room pre-school tamariki time to showcase three waiata this year (2025) at Te Papa – Kapaphaka kura.

And much more to come.
